Windows Live Calendar goes mobile

WMExperts

There seems to be a lot of work going on over at Windows Live. We′ve seen ActiveSync support show up and now LiveSide.net is reporting that the Calendar is now accessible from any web-enabled mobile phone. Supported phones and browsers include: iPhone/iPod Touch with Safari 3.0+, Opera on Windows Mobile 6.1.4+, S 60/5th Gen+, Blackberry 5+, Opera, Palm, Android.

Just type in calendar.live.com into your mobile browser and you will be prompted to enter in your Windows Live ID/password.  From there you will either go directly to your calendar or you will receive an interesting message that reads, "Windows Live is designed for you, but maybe not for your browser". The message continues to say "the website works best when viewed using Internet Explorer 6 or later, Safari 4.0 or later, Firefox 3.0 or later, or Google Chrome 4.0 or later".&nbsp All of which is a little confusing seeing that these are desktop browsers.

You do have the option to disregard this message and continue with the cautionary statement that, &quotsome webpages may not work correctly.&quot In using Opera 9.7 on an AT&T Tilt2, Windows Live Calendar "mobile" crashed the browser about every other time. In using Internet Explorer, while I still received the warning message but continuing worked better.

When Windows Live Calendar "mobile" worked, it worked just as it would by accessing it through a desktop computer. I could not replicate the nicer, cleaner graphics and interface of the "mobile" version on the Tilt2. Oddly though, I was able to access the mobile version using an iPhone.

In a jam, being able to access your Windows Live Calendar via your mobile browser will but the inconsistency of appearances and performance is really disappointing.  One would think a Windows Phone would reflect the &quotimprovements&quot to the Windows Live calendar before another device would.

I just can’t help but think Microsoft could come up with a more effective, efficient and easier way of making Windows Live truly mobile.

New Windows Phone 7 'features' video looks pretty good

WMExperts

&nbsp

Microsoft is continuing their desperately needed PR push by presenting this new ‘features’ video on YouTube. While nothing really new is demonstrated per se, it is nice to see it in all of its glorious action and real life scenarios–gives you a real feel for how it will all work.

Despite some of those initial 1.0 limitations, you have to give Microsfot credit for that UI–it looks nothing like Android or the iPhone. Not an easy accomplishment if you think about how you would design a mobile OS.

Check out the video after the jump, it’s worth the 3 1/2 minutes.

The Nintendo 3DS also has some serious Wi-Fi skills too

Mobilewhack.com

500x_wmn_nintendo3dsSure, that Nintendo 3DS has some superior 3D capability, but you know what, it has some other features too?

According to my source, the wireless feature will hook up with the Internet and other 3DS consoles while it is sleeping, and talking with them “without you knowing it”. In other words, you can play Nintendogs without you even knowing about it.

So, is this going to be like the next Chumby, or a step up from that?

It has a modular design with one part serving as a charger and AC Adapter, and it also has a rechargeable Li-Ion battery and USB port.

How much juice can this device hold? Not sure? I also don’t have a price for it either.

Samsung Galaxy 3 (i5800) Priced Over $400?

Mobilewhack.com

Samsung Galaxy 3 i5800 Here is some bad news for the people planning to get the Samsung Galaxy 3 (i5800). Expected to be available starting July, rumors are flying that the Samsung Galaxy 3 will be priced a little bit more than the forecasted $400 price tag. The Samsung Galaxy 3 will reportedly retail for about 14,000 rubles in Russia or about $450.

The price disparity may not be that significant but potential buyers may want to consider the specs. If you consider a 3.2 inch WQVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HSDPA, A-GPS, 3.2MP autofocus camera and 170MB of internal memory reasonable then you should have nothing to worry about. But do consider the Nokia N8 for comparison, which for a slight difference, offers more advanced features compared to the Samsung Galaxy 3. The choice is yours to make!

RFID reader on an iPhone

Mobilewhack.com

iPhone RFID: object-based media timo on Vimeo.

My source says that this is the “first step augmented reality the iPhone”, but thought there were already some decent augmented reality apps out there.

This iPhone has an RFID media player back it, you can watch video see what it can do. As you can see, it can look at toy somehow play clip based it. For example, Chuck Norris doll gives you access clip Walker: Texas Ranger.

Yes, this RFID media player would have be shrunk in order make it practical, and I’m not certain that see use this unless it could be controlled. For example, taking picture building in New York City should give me information on that building, not an episode CSI:NY.

bits-iphonemirror-blogSpanI once saw this commercial that showed unusual things that we use our computers for. For example, there was shot of woman bus doing her makeup using her laptop’s webcam.

I’m guessing that convenience of digital cameras has made them our new mirror, so it no surprise that there will Mirror App for iPhone 4, especially its front facing camera. So you need to put on your makeup, hopefully you can do it one hand holding iPhone other holding your lipstick, eye shadow, blush, or whatever.

This app will released DLP Mobile, have no idea if it will free one.

Samsung Galaxy 3 (i5800) to cost more than $400?

Unwired View

Officially introduced earlier this week by Samsung, the i5800 Galaxy 3 should be available starting July, and it looks like its price will be higher than expected.

According to Mobile-review, the Galaxy 3 (which runs Android 2.1) will retail for 14,000 rubles in Russia. This means about €365 or $450.

Now, if you think about the price of Nokia N8 (€370), you'd expect the Samsung Galaxy 3 to have features comparable to the ones of Nokia's first Symbian^3 smartphone. But it doesn't. Its highlight features include a 3.2 inch WQVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, HSDPA, A-GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, 3.2MP autofocus camera, and 170MB of internal memory. So I don’t see any reason for someone to choose the Galaxy 3 over the Nokia N8 – unless they really hate Symbian.

A slightly different version of the i5800 – the Samsung Galaxy Apollo 􁰹 – will be available in the UK, via Orange (probably also starting July).

Verizon’s Motorola Droid 2 shows up again, will “probably” come with Android 2.2 Froyo

Unwired View

While the Motorola Droid X has been confirmed yesterday by Verizon, there's still no official word on the Droid 2 (A955), which will be the true successor of the first Motorola Droid.

Even so, it looks like the Motorola Droid 2 was showcased by Verizon during a tech show held at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory.

Gizmodo received some photos of the Droid 2, together with new details.

Reportedly, the new Droid has the same size as the original one. Its QWERTY keyboard is wider, though, and it's "easier to type on."

At this time, the Motorola Droid 2 runs Android 2.1 with "Ninjablur" (like the Droid X). However, a Verizon rep said that the smartphone would "probably" have plain Android 2.2 Froyo at launch. Or, in case it's launched with Android 2.1, an update will be released shortly after.

It seems that the Droid 2 has a 1GHz processor, and 8GB of internal memory. The handset could be released "in the next few weeks." – hence we might see it as the same time with the Droid X.
