If you tried pre-order an iPhone 4 yesterday from either Apple or AT&T you probably know that the servers were down literally all day. know got my pre-order an hour after they went live you tried pretty much anytime after that you probably had no luck.
Well, despite fact that pre-order servers were down, Apple has announced that more than 600,000 iPhone 4 pre-orders were filled first day. Apple, who quite aware server malfunctions, has released following apologetic statement:
Yesterday Apple its carrier partners took pre-orders for more than 600,000 of Apple’s new iPhone 4. It was largest number of pre-orders Apple has ever taken single day was far higher than we anticipated, resulting many order approval system malfunctions. Many customers were turned away or abandoned process frustration. We apologize everyone who encountered difficulties, hope that they will try again or visit an Apple or carrier store once iPhone 4 is stock.
