Apple sells 2 million iPads ahead of iPhone 4G / HD launch

Unwired View

Exactly one week ahead WWDC 2010 (where iPhone 4G / HD should officially unveiled), Apple announced that it sold more than 2 million iPads worldwide – less than two months since the iPhone OS-based tablet was launched (April 3).

The news comes only few days after Apple started shipping iPad international markets (including Canada, UK, Germany Japan).

Obviously, Steve Jobs had to use the word "magic" again when talking about the iPad:

"Customers around the world experiencing the magic iPad, and seem loving it as much as we do."

Mr. Jobs' definition "magic" rather distorted, and I think the iPad as magical as the fake David Blaine is. It's fun and entertaining, sure, magical? Come on. Of course, this just PR stuff, sometimes it goes bit too far.

The iPad is currently available in US starting at $499 (the 16GB, 3G-less version), it's slightly more expensive in Europe. It will launched in more countries starting July.
