European Parliament wants to buy an iPad to each MEP. All 736 of them

Unwired View

I don’t like count other peoples money. But looking from here, Lithuania, our European MEPs (members European Parliament), have pretty cushy life already.

What with their salary, per diems, travel, office consumables allowances, their incomes are usually significantly higher then any mid sized  company CEO, 5 higher what local MP gets.

Well, crisis or no crisis, Greek bailouts or no, our MEPs have have their perks. And, course, be much more accessible their constituency.

According to Belgian paper Het Laatste Nieuws,  citing this particular "accessibility to constituency"  reason, Secretary General of the European Parliament, Klaus Welle decided to get each MEP (all 736 of them),  an… iPad!

The whole   purchase will cost taxpayers ~600 000 Euro, with the money to drawn from the budget of 5 mil. Euro EU Mobility project.

If this true, it sounds like really inspired use of taxpayer money,  guys.

With remaining 4.4 mil Euro Mobility project, do order  an iPad/iPhone app each MEP, so he can really truly accessible an average voter, and our love European Parliament will soar new heights…
