Microsoft may cut cost of Zune Pass: $9.99 a month?

WMExperts

Competition hot these days music-download biz Microsoft’s $14.99 month Zune Pass may instead get chopped down $9.99, according to senior product manager Terry Farrell an interview with Business Week.

While Phil I think $14.99 month price fair (you get purchase 10 songs month that $14.99, addition unlimited downloading), others industry, notably Amazon Rhapsody, offer similar service $10.

Microsoft does need position itself here carefully: they want make profit and find that sweet spot, but they also want make sure when you buy an upcoming Windows Phone 7 device, you take advantage Zune Marketplace.

Finding just the right combo could killer, because while Amazon has some presence on mobile (notably Android), Rhapsody is less straight-forward and has less presence. (Plus comparison, Zune Marketplace is better experience than Amazon’s on Android). This is still the one area that Microsoft can really exploit against Apple, who still don’t have monthly pass subscription.

And while they′re at it, we’d like see Microsoft implement some type Zune Video Pass, which was rumored coming. The idea having unlimited video streaming/downloading on my Windows Phone 7 would be fantastic.
