I know what you’re thinking, folks–you’re thinking I’ve gone a little pervy talking about the Penthouse cell phone watch. But I assure you this has nothing to do with either porn or real estate–this is a new cell phone watch from the folks out at Chinavasion, who sent me one for review.
It’s call the world’s smallest cell phone, and I believe them: I’ve never seen a cell phone this size…ever. It looks like those old calculator watches that us nerdy types used to wear back in the day. But this has so much more than we ever could have dreamed of.
Yes, it’s a fully-fledged cell phone, and a quad-band phone to boot. But it’s also got dual SIM card capability so you can switch from business to recreation fast and easy. It’s got Bluetooth connectivity and even comes with a Bluetooth headset. It has a variety of PDA tools, a music player, a video player, sound recorder, video recorder, still camera (max resolution: 640×480) and a battery that yields up to four hours of talk time on a single charge.
Anything bad you may have to say about this cell phone literally must be viewed in light of the idea that this is THE WORLD’S SMALLEST CELL PHONE. Yes, the display is cramped. Yes, the camera isn’t very high resolution. Yes, the controls are teeny-tiny and tough to use. But all of these have the same inevitable response: “…BUT IT’S THE WORLD’S SMALLEST CELL PHONE.”
It’s actually sufficiently comfortable to be worn as a watch, which is a really amazing step up from the last Chinavasion cell phone watch I covered, the Fortaleza. Its flaws are all acceptable in light of its tiny size, and its pluses, which really ARE pluses, make this a terrific cell phone watch, both as conversation piece and as useful communications device.
The Good
It’s the world’s smallest cell phone
Absolute convenience
All of its flaws are thoroughly understandable
The Bad
Tiny display
Almost unusable controls
Low-resolution camera
Score 8 / 10
