Announced Qualcomm more than year ago, MSM8260 and MSM8660 chipsets are now finally shipping – they're company's first Snapdragon chipsets to have two application processor cores.
Designed high-end smartphones, the new dual-CPU Snapdragon chipsets can run at up 1.2GHz. They feature support WXGA (1280 x 800) displays, GPU with 3D/2D acceleration engines, 1080p video, built-in low power GPS, dedicated low power audio engine.
The Qualcomm MS will power HSPA+ smartphones, while the MS made for multi-mode HSPA+/CDM 1xEV-DO Rev. B handsets.
Qualcomm didn't say when exactly handsets based its new dual-core chipsets will available, but the company's partners probably already working something. Who knows, maybe Nokia's first Snapdragon smartphone will use MSM8260 or MSM8660.
