HTC EVO 4G loaded with Froyo; shows up at HTC’s USA online store

Although Sprint's HTC EVO 4G will run Android 2.1 at launch, an Android 2.2 Froyo update is certainly coming later this year.

Google has made the Froyo SDK available, and also provided free EVOs all attendees its I/O conference – this explains user over at XDA forums has already managed root his HTC EVO 4G, which now runs Android 2.2. Unfortunately, root has not been provided as download yet (there's still work make it stable), you can follow this thread (via Engadget) to see when you can get it.

The HTC EVO 4G will available for purchase starting June 4 (this Friday). Following Sprint and other retailers, HTC has now added smartphone to its USA online store, too (info found via Good and EVO).

Customers will able buy EVO directly from HTC for: $199.99 with a new 2-yr Sprint contract agreement (no mail-in rebate); $299.99 with an existing contract extension; $549.99 free contract. Happy pre-ordering!
